You purchase your CTP insurance at the same time as you renew your vehicle or trailer registration or when purchasing an Unregistered Vehicle Permit.
You have the freedom to choose one of the Government-approved CTP Insurers that best meets your personal needs.
Your registration renewal notice lists the four CTP Insurers you choose from. Each insurer’s policy coverage is the same. So, to help you make your choice, you are given a simple comparison of each insurer’s premium price and how injured people who have made a claim rated the insurer’s service.
Choosing your insurer is as simple as:
- Choose your insurer
- Tick the box
- Pay registration and CTP in one.
Direct Debit customers
Direct debit customers can choose a CTP Insurer by logging into their MySA GOV account, selecting the appropriate vehicle and then clicking on the ‘Update/Cancel direct debit’ link. A change of CTP Insurer takes effect with the next scheduled payment.
Here’s an example of how Insurer Choice works for a Direct Debit customer
(Assuming your direct debit renews monthly, on the 1st of the month):
You receive your usual communication that your next payment is due in 7 days’ time. You log onto your MySA GOV account to choose your CTP Insurer, prior to the payment being processed.
Your monthly registration payment is processed. Providing the payment is successful, this means the change to your CTP Insurer comes into effect from 1 July.
You receive your usual communication that your next payment is due in 7 days’ time. If you do not access your MySA GOV account to change your CTP Insurer, your registration will be renewed with the CTP Insurer you selected on the 25 May. Your CTP Insurer will remain unchanged for each future monthly registration payment until you decide to change again.
Your monthly registration payment is processed.
