Updated driver medical standards from 22 June 2022

Austroads and the National Transport Commission have released revised national driver medical standards Assessing Fitness to Drive to come into effect on Wednesday 22 June 2022. From this date any assessments on fitness to drive must be undertaken in accordance with the revised national standards.

The revisions are a result of a review of the 2016 fitness to drive guidelines. A summary of the changes can be found on the Austroads website. Changes have been made to improve guidance on the principles of assessing fitness to drive, changes to medical condition chapters and the criteria for a number of chapters.
