Important information on Allied Health Management Plans
As part of its commitment to support and promote injury recovery as a key function of the CTP Scheme, the Regulator has recently reviewed and updated the Allied Health Management Plans.
The new management plans (physical and psychological) are effective 14 July 2025 and are designed for ease of use for allied health providers who treat injured people while facilitating their recovery and return to usual activities.
Management plans are beneficial to all stakeholders involved in the injured person’s recovery and assist CTP Insurers to make timely funding decisions. The updates to the management plans aim to:
- promote improved collaboration between treatment providers, the insurer and the injured person to enhance functional recovery outcomes
- obtain a greater understanding of the clinical and functional presentation of the injured person; this promotes recovery that is focused on the whole person, not just the injury, and assists the insurer and other treatment providers with identifying the appropriate support the injured person needs to recover
- improve functionality in both the online and hard copy plans, with the new Microsoft Word format being adaptable and incorporating expandable text boxes so providers are not limited in the information they can provide.
Online plans for a streamlined process
Allied health providers are encouraged to complete and submit management plans online.
Benefits of using the online management plan include:
- early funding decisions to support improved recovery outcomes for injured people
- automatic email notification of the insurer’s decision to the provider and injured person
- quicker submission to insurers, as the plan is integrated into their claims management system, enabling a more streamlined process from lodgement to funding decision
- ability to upload supporting documents such as medical reports or referrals
- elimination of administrative steps such as scanning and faxing, and paper use.
In addition to the online plan, the Word document versions are available for both the Physical and Psychological plans.
Fee Schedule
In recognition that the new management plans are more comprehensive and to provide appropriate remuneration for completing a management plan, the Regulator has made changes to the fee schedule. These changes provide remuneration at a higher rate than the ReturnToWorkSA fee schedule.
The new fees can be viewed here.
Please note that the changes relate to management plan fee items only, for all other services the ReturnToWorkSA fee schedule is still applicable.
Guide to completing the new plans
To support the transition to the new management plans, the Regulator has prepared a Guide to Completing SA CTP Allied Health Management Plans. This guide helps allied health providers understand the type of information requested and why this information is beneficial for the injured person and the CTP Insurer.
It should be used as a guide only and should allied health providers need further clarification on what specific information is required, they should speak with the insurer who is best placed to advise what information or evidence is required.
While the new management plans come into effect from 14 July 2025, we are allowing for a reasonable period of grace for providers to switch to the new plans.
These changes have been authorised by the Treasurer.
