Scammers claiming to be the CTP Regulator
The CTP Regulator has been made aware of recent instances of scammers pretending to be from the Regulator’s office and contacting claimants about their CTP insurance claim.
Be wary of cold calls after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Car crash scammers may pretend to represent government or insurers to encourage you to provide your personal details.
If you are contacted, ask for proof that the caller is who they say they are and search for their phone number in an independent source, like an online search or in a phone book.
If in doubt, do not provide any personal details, hang up and report them to the Regulator by:
- completing the electronic car crash scamming form
- calling our Enquiries Line on 1300 303 558.
You can remain anonymous if you wish.
